Shashi Tharoor tells #AsiaLitFest about the books that shaped his life

The prominent Indian politician and bestselling author returned to Asia House to discuss the books that have shaped his life.

Tharoor was in conversation with journalist and author Shrabani Basu

As one of the most popular public figures in India, Tharoor has used his writing to engage people in key national conversations. His works have been unsparing in their criticism of the ‘Hindutva’ ideology, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India, and British colonialism - and while these have reached and influenced thousands of people, we got a chance to hear more about the books that have had the biggest impact on him.

Watch the event footage below to find out what his favourite titles are, as well as a behind-the-scenes interview.

Tharoor was in conversation with journalist and author Shrabani Basu, after which he answered questions from the audience - including one on whether we might see him running for leader of India's Congress Party.
