Asia House Poetry Slam 2019

An evening of rich multilingual spoken word and storytelling from award-winning poets exploring identity, heritage and what it means to be part of the Asian diaspora.

Fathima Zahra was crowned the winner of the Asia House Poetry Slam 2019

An evening of outstanding spoken word at the #AsiaLitFest in partnership with Spread The Word, where eight shortlisted young poets competed to be crowned the Asia House Poetry Slam 2019 winner.

The eight aspiring poets and spoken word artists were aged 18-25 and each performed poetry that examined some part of Asia or the Asian diaspora. After a tough decision, our judges for the evening - poet and artist Imtiaz Dharker and third Young People’s Laureate for London Theresa Lola - chose Fathima Zahra as the winner.

The evening was MCed by poet and radio presenter Mr Gee, who also performed his own poetry alongside our judges.
